We all wear different masks. Neotribalism is the ideology that humans have evolved to live in a tribal, as opposed to a modern, society, and thus cannot achieve genuine happiness until some semblance of tribal lifestyles has been re-embraced. #noKids

Great swimming @ Roca Blanca 1 mile. 30 min drive to Chacahua National Park, Bioluminescent Laguna and Hot Springs by horseback. Yours is house on the left. #NoKids #Bird/WhaleWatching #PermaGlamping #GooniesGoth #OffGridLuxury #InstagramEnvy #DigitalHomesteading #DigitalNomads #BitcoinsAccepted We are an eco-conscious permaculture retreat center on a wild, empty beach between Puerto Escondido and Lagunas de Chacahua—just 100m from the ocean. New Ruins is built for wellness retreats, adventure groups, and creative escapes, hosting up to 20 guests. Expect Wild Comfort: rustic, immersive nature with thoughtful touches that make it feel easy and inspiring. Wake up to birds, fall asleep to waves, and spend your days surfing, exploring, or slowing down. We’re far from the tourist zone—this is an experience in nature, not a resort. We provide Manduka mats for retreats (only), shared spaces for gathering, and a layout designed for group flow and connection. Rooms & Layout: Beach Breeze: 1 King — private bath (toilet) + terrace The Dome: 2 Queen (ground + loft) — shared bath (shower + pee toilet) El Cono: 1 Queen — terrace — shared bath w/ Dome The Temple: King or 2 Twins — private bath (toilet) Sky: 1 Queen + 2 Full (split levels) — shared bath Clouds: 1 Queen — private shower + pee toilet The Parota: 4 Twins (bunks) — rustic, great for groups Bathrooms: Temple & Beach Breeze have full private bathrooms. Cono and Dome share a full bathroom All other rooms include a shower + pee-only toilet; composting toilets for #2 are a short walk (~20m). Shared Spaces: La Mesa (kitchen + dining), The Nest (yoga + views), pool, and a geodesic ceremonial dome for activities. Set on 1 hectare above the ocean with fruit trees, gardens, trails, and epic views—plus surf, swimming, and bioluminescence nearby—New Ruins is designed for connection, creativity, and reset. The Pool is next to your cabana. Its is a shared space The Kitchen is a separate building that is the heart of the property. It has a very large indoor garden and is open air but mosquito screened. This is shared between everybody. It's fully equipped and generally speaking, all the food is available to you. We do expect you to bring your own specific food items, but the basics we generally have are spices, oils, coffee, tea, chiles, garlic, onions, tomatoes etc and and we are into sharing. Beach Equipment: We can loan you all sorts of recreational items, including: shade structures, camastros, snorkeling flippers and masks, surf and boogie boards, balls, frisbees, clown wig, fireworks, all sorts of weird stuff. Just don't break them. Booze: We have wine, beer and mezcal for sale. But you are also welcome to bring your own. Beach Campfire: Firewood is always on hand for a beach fire, and feel free to enjoy our marshmallows or hotdogs while star gazing. The owners live on the property in a house up on the hill. They have their own spaces and arent up in yours, but availble if needed. Staff is daily on the property. We can help you go exploring in the area. We are perfectly situated for day trips to local attractions: hot springs, a large lagoon with glow in the dark plankton, floating down a river in an innertube, waterfalls, and secluded local beaches. Based on topics of interest we can talk to you about lots of things: Solar power, grey water usage, long range internet installations, gardening, fruit trees, mezcal infusions, ecological construction techniques, composting toilets and of course, Permaculture! New Ruins is very isolated, there are no shops, restraurantes or neighbors. Please be prepared with anything you may need ahead of time. Nearest shopping is 30mins away in car or 200 pesos via taxi. El Venado is about 2 KM away and is community of coconut farmers. Therefore you'll be surrounded buy huge coconut plantations. The houses are almost completely made from different parts of the coco. On the other side of us is Roca Blanca, a small tourist beach, visited by mostly local Mexicans. It has a surf break, rustic palapa restaurants and is great swimming and snorkeling. It is a walkable distance along the beach or a dirt road, about 20 mins walking or 5 by car. We are very remote and its difficult to get in and out. * We have a 12 person passenger Van. 2000 pesos per airport shuttle. * A taxi from rio grande will come and take you to rio grande for 200 pesos. (Easier) * But there are collectivo taxis that come and go every 30 mins in el venado, 2 kms away walking. For 15 pesos they'll take you to Rio Grande, the nearest town with commercial services and connections to other towns . And another 15 pesos to get back to el venado. (Cheaper) * From rio grande or along the highway The Collectivo Vans (Urvans) will take you to Puerto Escondido 45 mins away for 45 pesos. * From Rio grande, 20 pesos to get to the entrance of Chacahua National Park Lagoon system. * 2 hours Driving to Mazunte. * Having your own car or motorbike would allow for maximum mobility. Heres some things you might not like: It's rustic, as in not a 5 star resort. It is charming and comfortable but there are some bugs that might bite you as the buildings are separate and require walking outdoors. The rooms are, however, bug free. We are far from stores. Bring any medicines, personal items or cigarettes (throw away your butts, not on the ground). Next to the room is a beautiful bathroom to shower and a pee only toilet. But for a number 2, you have to walk half a minute to 1 of the 2 dry composting toilets that use sawdust. The ocean isn't always safe for actual swimming, but you can always play in the waves. But sometimes it is too rough to go out past the break. Roca Blanca, about 20 mins walking/5 mins in car, is a protected bay and is always safe to swim, and it has local restaurants on the beach where you can get fresh seafood and drinks.
